Hidden Book Case Door

The handles for the cabinet doors were not delivered with the package. At first, I was told I’d have to return the door to get the handles for the cabinet, which is ridiculous! Then they said they would contact the company and have them contact me to get me the handles. I have not heard back from them.

Easy to install, functional use of space. We are proud of our doors, they contribute a lot to the room.

I purchased directly through the Murphy Door website. As part of a whole house remodel I was very excited to add a Murphy door. Originally we were on an aggressive remodel schedule so I ordered an unassembled kit since they promise quicker shipping and production than the preassembled ones. After placing my order and being charged for the door weeks went by with no information. After multiple attempts to contact customer service they claimed they had a “technical difficulty” and hadn’t stated production yet. After more issues, they admitted they were outsourcing their customer service and had not started my order. Somehow within all this mess they then decided to charge me another $400 for my door. I was still hoping to have this door as part of the remodel so I went forward with it anyways. Once the door has arrived, it was very well packaged with no visible damage. Due to the delays in production I had missed the original opportunity for my cabinet maker to stain the panels to match my cabinets so I left the door packaged to avoid further damage while I waited. After a few weeks when we finally opened the box, we found it had been packed with gravel inside the box which had seriously scratched the wood and even had a piece of rock embedded in it. I reached out to customer service and they claimed the wood might require some light sanding. I explained that you can’t sand out gravel and they said I had waited too long so they weren’t going to help me. Ironically the delays I encountered due to their errors added up to more than the time I waited to unpackage the door. To top it off, my damaged door was shipped without hinges. This whole ordeal has taken three months and I’m left with another $450 bill for my cabinet maker to try and repair the damage.

I purchased fhis product because it is cool to havw … somehow i was expecting shelves and the bottom are as cabinet as the online oic clearly ahow. Whej i made the selections, i remember picking the number of shelves. But just installed it today but purchased in august for iur new loft addition and its all shelves. No cabinets. Disappointed

Went in perfect looks and looks great. Should be pretty convincing and secure if the day comes that it is truly needed. I would recommend this door to anyone. Quality looks to be there as well. Shelves will certainly come in handy

Finally got one to use as a bedroom door. Is it cool? Yes. Is it well made? Yes. The process was just shy of a nightmare. - Tried to buy/install with Home Depot. They sent someone out to measure and he said "we don't install those." So we paid a contractor to do it. Maybe Home Depot shouldn't sell what they can't install? - The door has no handle for the other side. We had to find and install ourselves. - Things fall off the shelves. We had to DIY tipping shelves because none were available.

We *LOVE* our Murphy Door. It's not only the coolest thing ever, it really helps with noise reduction. Delivery was free to my driveway, which saved us more than the cost of the great professional we hired to install the door. Install took 3 or 4 hours.

The door for the most part is really easy to install if you've ever installed a typical prehung door. I rated it 3 stars because I felt there was a LOT of pertinent info left out of Home Depots description of & specifications page. The spring loaded carriage bolt used to keep the door in place needs to be at least 3/4" longer & possibly some type of hardware for the head of that bolt to slide on instead of discoloring the laminated theshold. 2 swings of our door delaminated the face of the threshold. The door is heavy so it is easier if an additional person is around to assist with removing/ replacing the door from its pivot hinge. In addition, most framed walls are not perfect so expect some gaps along trim/face frame junctions.

It came out just the way I wanted it. It’s been installed for only 2 weeks so we will see but so far, it looks really nice and I give it 5stars. It’s also very steady even with a lot of books

The door is nice & well made, fairly easy to install but...it’s the little things that have me giving it a 3 star (considered giving it a 2 star). Examples, holes are drilled every inch or so for shelf placement, but they are not stained so on the dark unit we got they look like polka dots. It makes a fairly expensive door look very cheap. There were only 2 moveable shelves sent, not nearly enough to for a door this size & it looks dumb. The shelves are not attached in way that they are secure, so sit anything with weight on the front side of the shelf & they easily flip up, dropping everything to the floor. There is no lip to the shelves, so when you open the door, everything slides off, again to the floor. Basically if you want to access what is behind it, you have to take everything off the shelves...so I guess it’s a good thing there are only 3 of them. Idea seemed good but it is not functional. We will probably end up taking out this expensive useless door (unless you leave the shelves empty, but that looks dumb too) & just installing a normal door.
